A century of one molecule
The story of LACALUT is, in essence, the story of aluminium lactate. It gave the brand its name in 1925 and remains in the composition of almost every paste today. A rare case where the ingredient that started it all is still here a century later.
The brand's name is its composition
Latin lactas aluminii — aluminium lactate. German researchers were looking for an astringent ingredient for gum care: effective enough to firm the tissue, yet gentle enough not to irritate it. The substance they found proved so defining that the product itself was named after it.
From tooth powder to a line for every age
LACALUT tooth and gum powder based on aluminium lactate is launched in Germany — one of the first pharmacy products of its kind.
The formulation receives a German imperial patent — a rarity for hygiene products of that era and recognition that the composition was genuinely new.
The products arrive on the Belarusian market. The official importer is FLLC "Natusana", Minsk.
The brand's centenary. Aluminium lactate is still in the composition — alongside the amine fluoride Olaflur and hydroxyapatite.
The kids' line closes the last age gap: a toothpaste for teens during the transition to permanent teeth. The line is now continuous from age 0 to adulthood.
What it means to be a pharmacy brand
A cosmetic brand tries to make one paste that suits everyone. A pharmacy brand starts from the fact that people's needs differ — and offers a dedicated tool for each.
Why this matters in practice. A highly abrasive whitening paste is excellent at removing coffee stains — and the same paste can do harm if used every day on exposed tooth necks. The point of the range is not to offer the "strongest" paste, but to give both the dentist and the shopper a choice for each specific situation.
Since 1925
An astringent ingredient: it helps firm the surface tissue of the gums. The very one that gave the brand its name.
Amine fluoride
An organic form of fluoride: it anchors to the enamel and forms a depot that keeps working after brushing. How it works →
Hydroxyapatite
The mineral enamel itself is made of. It fills microdefects and dentinal tubules. Details →
Homburg, Saarland
All LACALUT toothpastes are made at the Dr. Theiss Naturwaren GmbH pharmaceutical plant in Germany — the same place where they are developed. Not "under a German licence" or "to German standards", but physically in Germany.
Who is responsible for the brand in our country
FLLC "Natusana"
The official importer of LACALUT in the Republic of Belarus. The company is responsible for the import, registration and quality of the products that reach Belarusian shelves.
State registration
Every paste undergoes state registration and holds a certificate (SGR). Product names on this site match the registered names exactly.
Toothpaste is a cosmetic
Under the technical regulations of the Customs Union, toothpaste is classified as a cosmetic product. That is why we talk about prevention and care — and do not promise treatment.
Why we say this openly. The wording on the packaging and on this site is limited by law for a reason: a toothpaste can reduce the risk of caries and help the gums, but it will not replace a visit to the dentist. Everything we claim on this site we are ready to back up with the composition or a study — and what we cannot back up, we do not say. An example of that conversation is our article on chlorhexidine.
